Glossary
A quick reference for the words you'll see in Rebrief. Terms are in alphabetical order.
Tip: Use your browser's find, Ctrl+F or ⌘F, to jump straight to a term.
A
AfterCare™ summary
Post-visit instructions for your patient, written from the appointment. Make one from + Create.
Agent credits
Your plan's monthly allowance for Rebrief's answers, documents and tasks. Settings shows it under Plan & billing as Agent credits used this period. Transcribing is counted in minutes instead.
Agent task
A job you ask Rebrief to do in your practice software, through the Windows app. Opening a chart and adding a chart note are examples. Its chat is kept in Home's list.
Appointment
One patient visit in Rebrief. It holds the transcript, the notes, the tooth chart, the perio chart and anything you make from it.
Auto-end
A setting for each computer. When nobody speaks for a few minutes, Rebrief shows No audio detected and counts down, then ends the appointment. Find it in Settings, under This computer.
Auto-start
A setting for each computer with the Windows app. When a conversation starts and no appointment is running, Rebrief offers to start one. Find it in Settings, under This computer.
B
Bridge
Another name for the Windows app. Some screens call it the Rebrief Bridge.
C
Calendar
Your clinic's schedule, brought in from your practice software. On plans that connect to it, open the calendar from the Calendar row on Home.
Chat
A conversation with Rebrief, started from the prompt bar. Home's list keeps every chat. A chat about a patient is filed under that patient.
Citation
A small chip in an answer that shows where it came from. A numbered chip points to its source. A chip such as "Oct 29 visit" opens that visit, and one after a patient's name opens their page.
Clinic
Your practice's workspace in Rebrief. Its patients, appointments and notes stay separate from every other clinic.
Clinic admin
A member who can also invite and remove colleagues, under Settings, Team. The clinic admin is the only one who can change billing.
Corner card
A small notice in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Updates, replies to your reports, and notes about your agent credits or minutes arrive this way.
+ Create
The button on an appointment's tab row, just before Export. It makes a Smart dictation pad, a note on one of your templates, a document, a form or an AfterCare™ summary.
D
Document
A letter or sheet Rebrief writes from an appointment, such as a referral. Make one from + Create, and it opens as its own tab.
E
End
The button that finishes an appointment. Rebrief stops transcribing, gives the note a last careful pass, checks the note and the chart, and writes the follow-ups.
Evidence
A cited answer to a clinical question. Ask on Home or in the prompt bar. On an appointment or a patient's page, the Evidence tab lists your chats about that patient.
Export
The button at the end of an appointment's tab row. It copies the note or the chart and makes PDFs on your letterhead. In the Windows app, it can also send them to your practice software.
F
Faded suggestion
A faded line in the note that isn't part of it yet. Add puts it in, and Skip leaves it out. Faded text can also finish the line you're typing. Press Tab to take it, or Esc to dismiss it.
FDI notation
The two-digit tooth numbering, from 11 to 48. Settings calls it FDI (International).
Follow-ups
See Tasks.
Form
A paper or PDF form your clinic already uses, saved once as a template. Rebrief fills in its blanks from an appointment.
H
Home
Rebrief's first screen. Its prompt bar asks What should we work on next? The list beside it holds your recent chats and appointments, under rows such as New chat, New appointment and Routines.
K
Key points
The short box of bullets at the top of a cited answer. Read it if you read nothing else.
L
Learn
Learn in the rail turns the cited answers you asked for into short reading units. They count toward continuing education credit.
M
Medicolegal check
After End, Rebrief reads the note on the Note tab for details a records reviewer would expect, such as consent. It offers up to three as faded lines. It also underlines in red a line whose findings and conclusion disagree.
Memory
The part of Settings that holds what Rebrief remembers about how you write. It lists your Remembered rules and the habits Rebrief noticed in your edits.
Mic
The microphone Rebrief transcribes with. To change it, use the mic menu at the right end of the line under the top bar.
N
Notation
The way teeth are numbered. Choose FDI (International) or Universal (US) in Settings, under Charting.
Note
The clinical record Rebrief writes on an appointment's Note tab as you talk. It starts blank, with no template, and fills standard sections such as findings, diagnosis, procedure and plan.
Note ready
What the line under the top bar reads once the finished note is on screen after End.
O
Odontogram
The tooth chart. It shows what was found, planned or done on each tooth. On a computer, it stays beside the note for the whole appointment.
P
Perio chart
The probing rows of the chart, on the buccal and lingual sides of each arch. They hold probing depths, gingival margins and clinical attachment levels, tooth by tooth.
Polish your note
A short chat that can open after End. It asks about details a note needs that nobody says aloud, such as the anesthetic, then writes your answers into the note.
Practice software
The program your clinic already uses for patients, schedules and charts, such as Open Dental. It's also called practice-management software, or PMS. Rebrief connects to it through the Windows app.
Prep my day
A routine that gets the day ready before clinic. It reads the schedule in your practice software and makes a Rebrief appointment for each visit, with a short prep. It ends with a huddle list. It never changes anything in your practice software, and it needs the Windows app.
Prompt bar
The bar where you ask Rebrief a question or hand it a job. On Home, it's the big bar in the middle. On other pages, it sits at the top, and Ctrl+K (⌘K on a Mac) jumps to it. Type @ to add a patient or an appointment.
R
Refining
Shown on the note's bar during a longer appointment, while Rebrief rereads the note against everything said so far. After End, the line under the top bar reads Refining note until the note is ready.
Regenerate
The button that rebuilds a note from the appointment's transcript. It asks first and keeps your own edits. The earlier version stays in Note Replay.
Remember
The button beside the edit bar in a finished note. It remembers how the highlighted words are written, for the rest of that note or for future notes.
Remembered rules
The rules Rebrief follows when it writes your clinic's notes. Each one is a short line about wording or layout. See or forget them in Settings, under Memory.
Resume
Starts transcribing again in the same appointment, after it stopped or ended. You can resume any appointment.
Routine
Work Rebrief can do for you now or at a set time, such as Prep my day. Find routines under Routines on Home.
S
Saved to PMS
On the Scribe page's list, an appointment whose work was sent to your practice software.
Scribe
Scribe in the rail opens the Scribe page. Start an appointment there, and find every appointment in one list. On plans that connect to your practice software, it also shows who's up next.
Sign-off
Your closing line, with your name and credentials. Once Rebrief remembers it, it ends every note Rebrief writes for you.
Smart dictation
A pad for your own words, opened from + Create. It writes what you say, with dental terms and tooth numbers corrected.
Sources
After End, sentences in the note link to the words said during the visit. Click in a linked sentence, then select its Source button to see them.
Still here
A button on the line under the top bar when Rebrief is about to end an appointment, for example after No audio detected. It keeps the appointment going, and so does saying anything.
Stopped
Transcribing stopped without anyone selecting End. Resume picks it up again. Otherwise, the appointment ends by itself 10 minutes later.
Sync
Bringing your schedule and its patients in from your practice software, through the Windows app. A sync only reads your practice software.
T
Tab
One thing an appointment holds, shown on the row under its header. The transcript, each note and each document has its own tab.
Tasks
Follow-ups from each appointment. When an appointment ends, Rebrief writes them from the note. Tick them off on the Tasks page or on the appointment's Tasks tab.
Template
A saved layout Rebrief writes into. Templates in the rail holds note, document and form templates.
Transcribe here
A button on an appointment's page while another appointment is transcribing on this computer. It ends the other appointment and transcribes this one.
Transcribing
Rebrief turning what's said into text through the mic. The rail's Scribe row and the Scribe page's list show Transcribing beside the appointment.
Transcript
The words said during the appointment, on the Transcript tab. After End, it can show the more careful version, Transcript (refined).
Trigger phrase
Words saved on a document or form template. When someone says them in an appointment, Rebrief offers that document or form under Suggested for this appointment in + Create.
U
Universal notation
The tooth numbering used in the United States, from 1 to 32. Settings calls it Universal (US).
Up next
On the Scribe page, the next booked patients on today's schedule. Each has its own Start button for that patient's appointment. It needs a plan that connects to your practice software.
W
What's new
A card that explains a change to a screen you use every day. It shows once. To see it again, open Settings, then Help & tips, and select Show me beside What's new.
Windows app
Rebrief's app for Windows. Install it on the clinic computer where you use your practice software, and it connects Rebrief to that software. It comes with every paid plan.
