Settings & preferences

5 min read

Settings holds everything about your account, your notes, your clinic and this computer. It's grouped so you can find a setting without hunting.

Finding your way around

Open Settings in the rail on the left. On a phone, it's under More.

On a computer, a menu sits on the left. At the top is Search settings, then your name, then the categories under five groups: Account, Notes, Clinic, Devices and Learn & help. Choose a category and it opens on the right, one at a time.

On a phone, the menu comes first. A category opens as its own screen, with All settings to go back.

To jump to a setting, type its name into Search settings, such as "auto start", "two factor" or "tooth numbering". You can also type it into the prompt bar on any page, such as "change my password", and pick the setting it suggests.

Saving your changes

There's no single save button for the whole page.

  • Switches save the moment you flip them.
  • Profile, Charting and Clinic each save with their own Save changes button.
  • Notes & dictation has Save and Discard for your dictionary and protocols.
  • Typed fields in Learn and the computer's name save when you leave the field.
  • The clinic Logo saves as soon as you upload it.

Account

Profile holds your Name and Email. Changing your email asks for your current password.

Security holds three things.

  • Change password, which ends with Update password. A password needs at least 8 characters.
  • Two-factor authentication, which you turn on with Set up authenticator app.
  • Delete account…, which asks you to contact support. It doesn't delete anything by itself.

Notifications & sounds has a switch for sound effects during voice charting.

Plan & billing shows the minutes and agent credits used this period, and your plan. On a paid plan, Billing says whether you pay monthly or annually, and the day it renews. Enterprise clinics also see Seats and Clinics covered. Below that are the current period and the card on file.

Only the clinic admin can change billing. On Professional and Enterprise, the admin can switch between monthly and annual billing here. On Enterprise, the admin can also add or remove seats. The article on plans and prices covers both.

On every plan but Enterprise, Upgrade plan opens the plans page. On a paid plan, the admin also sees Manage card and invoices and Cancel subscription.

Notes

Memory is what Rebrief remembers about how you write. Learning from your edits comes first, with the Rebrief learns from your edits switch and the Habits Rebrief noticed. Remembered rules lists every rule Rebrief follows. On plans that connect to your practice software, Memory also shows Your versions and Your corrections, from tasks Rebrief did in your practice software. The article on remembering how you write covers Memory in full.

Notes & dictation shapes the note itself.

  • My dictation dictionary lists brands, materials and abbreviations you use, one per line. The note spells them your way.
  • My standard protocols is what "procedure completed uneventfully" or "standard protocol" writes into the note, in your words.
  • Multilingual transcription is one switch for the whole clinic. Off, appointments are transcribed in English by a medical speech model, the most accurate for dental terms. On, a general model follows English and French in the same room, with some loss of dental accuracy.

When an appointment ends, in the same category, sets what opens by itself when you press End on this computer.

  • Polish the note in the chat opens the chat after End, once Rebrief has questions about details nobody said aloud, such as the anesthetic or the shade. The answers you pick are written into the note.
  • Open + Create opens the + Create menu once after End, so you can start a document or a form.

Both start on. You can also turn each one off where it opens, with Don't open this at End.

Charting has Tooth numbering, either FDI (International) or Universal (US). It also has Probing order: Maxillary first, Facials first or Custom order. Custom order isn't offered on a phone. Changes apply to new appointments, and each appointment keeps what it started with.

Clinic

Clinic holds your clinic's Logo, Clinic name, Specialty and Clinic ID. Support may ask you for the Clinic ID, so it has a copy button.

Team appears for your clinic's admin and for an organization owner. It has Invite a colleague, and a Members list with Remove. On Enterprise, it also shows your seats.

Practice software appears on plans that connect to your practice software. Clinics make that connection through the Windows app, the Rebrief app you install on a clinic's Windows computers. On a computer with the Windows app, this category holds that computer's practice software settings. In a web browser, it explains how to connect.

Devices

This computer keeps what belongs to the computer you're using.

  • Computer name is what everyone in the clinic sees this computer called, such as "Operatory 2". It shows in the computer picker, on routines and on each appointment transcribed here. Set it on each computer.
  • Auto-start and Auto-end are set for each computer. Tick Use on all computers to give every computer on your account the same setting. Each switch explains what it does under its name.
  • Apps Rebrief may use and Sign-in for Rebrief set what Rebrief may use when it does a task for you on this computer. They work in the Windows app only.

Learn & help

Learn holds your name as registered, your role and your CE settings, such as Earn CE from my questions, Units a day and Evening digest. Your CE record is there too.

Help & tips has Rebrief on your phone with Show me how, What's new with Show me, and Take the tour again with Start tour.

Tip: Not sure where a setting lives? Type what you're looking for into Search settings, or into the prompt bar from any page.
