Tabs on the appointment page

4 min readFor clinical staff

One row of tabs sits under the patient line on the appointment page. The tab you pick shows in the left column. The tooth chart and perio chart stay on the right whichever tab is up. You can see the chart while you read a document, fill a form or check the transcript.

What's on the row

Left to right, the row holds:

  • Transcript, what was said. After End, it can switch to a more careful version of the same conversation, headed Transcript (refined).
  • Note, the note Rebrief writes as you talk.
  • Any note you added on one of your templates, titled with that template's name.
  • Documents, filled forms, AfterCare summaries and dictation pads, in the order you made them.
  • Evidence and Tasks, described below.

Each tab has a small icon that shows what kind it is. + Create and Export are buttons at the end of the row. Each one opens a menu.

The mark on a note's tab

A note's tab carries one small mark that shows its state.

  • A mic means Rebrief is transcribing into this note.
  • A saffron spinner means Rebrief is writing it. That happens after End, during a Regenerate, or while a note on one of your templates is written.
  • A grey spinner means a change is being saved.
  • A red warning means the last save didn't go through. Point at it to see why.
  • A green check means the note is saved. Point at it to see when, such as Saved 2:41 pm.

Evidence and Tasks

Evidence shows when the appointment has a patient and you have asked Rebrief about that patient. It lists your own chats about them, this appointment's first, then earlier ones. Its count is on the tab. Click a chat to read it in place. Type in Ask about this patient… to start another.

Tasks is on every appointment. It lists this appointment's to-dos under To do, with the open count on the tab.

  • Before End, it reads "Rebrief writes this appointment's tasks from the note when it ends."
  • Right after End, it shows Writing tasks from the note… for a moment.
  • Add task adds one of your own. Tick a task when it's done. Done tasks fold away under Done.
  • If an ended appointment has no tasks, Write tasks from the note asks Rebrief to try.
  • All tasks opens the Tasks page.

On plans that connect to your practice software, jobs you asked Rebrief to do for this patient are listed below the to-dos, under With Rebrief.

On Home, a chat you start during an appointment sits under that appointment in your chat list. Your other chats about the patient sit under the patient's name.

Using + Create

+ Create has two groups.

  • Inputs holds Smart dictation. It opens a dictation pad for your own words, with dental terms and tooth numbers corrected.
  • Outputs starts with Suggested for this appointment, up to three ideas from what was said. Rebrief never makes one on its own. Click a suggested document and its tab opens and is written straight away, on the template that fits, with the suggestion's reason as the brief.
  • Under those, Note, Document and Form open your templates of that kind. Each list has a search box and Favourites, Your clinic and Rebrief sections.
  • AfterCare™ summary writes instructions for the patient after the visit.

New template, at the foot of the menu, opens the editor for a new note template. It takes you off the appointment page. Rebrief keeps transcribing while you're away.

Picking a note template adds a second note, written from the appointment so far, as its own tab. Picking a document, form or AfterCare summary from the lists opens it as a tab with nothing written yet. The writing starts when you ask for it in that tab.

Note: End opens + Create once. To stop that, switch on Don't open this at End at the foot of the menu when End opens it.

Closing and removing tabs

Documents, forms, summaries and dictation pads each have an × that closes the tab. Closing keeps what's inside. The tab comes back when you reopen the appointment.

To delete a document, form or summary for good, open the ⋯ menu at the top right of its tab and choose Remove. It's deleted at once, with no question asked. Dictation pads have no Remove.

Transcript, the note tabs, Evidence and Tasks can't be closed.

Keyboard

With a tab focused, the left and right arrow keys move along the tabs. Home and End jump to the first or last tab. Press Tab to reach + Create and Export.

On your phone

On a phone, the row starts with Note and Transcript. If your plan includes the chart, Chart comes next. Then come the other tabs, in the order you made them. + Create opens as a sheet.

Exporting

Export takes the note and the chart out of the appointment. Documents, forms, summaries, dictation pads and the transcript each have their own copy and PDF buttons.
