Editing the clinical note

3 min readFor clinical staff

Rebrief writes the note on the Note tab as you talk. You can type in it at any time, during the appointment and after End. This article covers the bar above the note, typing, rebuilding and undoing.

The bar above the note

These controls sit in one row above the note.

  • Regenerate rebuilds the note from the appointment's transcript.
  • A chip with a shield shows the medicolegal check. Before End it reads Checks for medicolegal omissions at End.
  • After End, a chip counts the sentences that have a source in the conversation, such as 12 sources.
  • After End, a Remember? chip may appear. It means Rebrief noticed something you change in every note.
  • At the right end sit a clock button for Note Replay, then the Undo and Redo arrows.

The medicolegal check, sources and remembered habits each have their own article.

A note written on one of your templates shows the template's name at the start of its bar. It has no medicolegal chip.

Typing in the note

Click anywhere in the note and type. What you type is kept as you wrote it. Rebrief's later passes work around your words.

While Rebrief isn't transcribing, it may offer to finish the line you're typing. The rest of the line shows in faded text. Press Tab to take it. Autocomplete has its own article.

While the appointment runs

Rebrief adds to the note as people talk. From time to time it also refines the note from the appointment so far. Refining shows beside the undo arrows while it works. Your own edits are kept.

Words Rebrief changes are underlined in yellow for a moment, so you can see what moved.

Rebuilding the note

Regenerate rebuilds the note from what was said in the appointment.

  1. Select Regenerate.
  2. Rebrief asks first, because the rebuild replaces the note. Your own edits are kept, and the current version stays in Note Replay.
  3. Select Rebuild note to go ahead, or Cancel.

While it runs, a band across the top of the note says so. You can regenerate during the appointment or after End. After End, Rebrief also runs the medicolegal check again on the rebuilt note.

Undo and redo

The Undo arrow takes back the last change in the note, including text Rebrief just wrote. It also takes back changes you made by hand on the tooth chart and the perio chart. To undo voice charting, say "undo". The Redo arrow puts a change back.

In the note you can also press Ctrl+Z to undo and Ctrl+Y to redo. On a Mac, use ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z.

Whatever undo or redo changed gets a light yellow highlight, so you can see it.

Note Replay

The clock button plays back how the note was written, from the first words to the last. It opens once transcribing stops.

Changing a finished note

Once the appointment has ended, you can also change the note by saying what you want.

  • Highlight words in the note, then type the change in the small bar that appears.
  • Or type the change in the prompt bar at the top of the screen, such as "shorten the plan in the note".

The article on changing a finished note covers both.

Saving

There is no Save button. The note saves itself as you go.

The mark on the note's tab shows where it stands. A green check means it's saved, and pointing at it shows when. A red mark means the last save didn't go through. Check your connection.

Finding the note later

The note stays with its appointment. Open the appointment again from the list on the Scribe page. Its search box finds words in your notes too.
