Managing patients
Patients in the left rail lists the patients Rebrief knows at your clinic. Use it to find a patient, open their page, or add someone by hand.
The Patients page comes with every paid plan. Starter, the free plan, doesn't have it.
Find a patient
- Select Patients in the left rail.
- Type the start of a last name in Search by last name.... The list narrows as you type.
- Select View at the end of the patient's row. On a phone, tap the row.
Each row shows the name, last name first, then the date of birth, email and phone. On a phone, a row shows the name, date of birth and phone.
The line above the list says how many patients are showing.
When a patient isn't listed
If nobody matches your search, the page says so. The patient may not have come in from your practice software yet.
In the Windows app, select Sync now to bring patients in. The Windows app is how a clinic computer connects Rebrief to your practice software.
Add a patient by hand
- On the Patients page, select New patient.
- Fill in First name and Last name.
- Add Date of birth, Sex, Email and Phone if you have them.
- Select Create Patient.
The patient appears in the list right away. Cancel closes the form without saving.
Patients from your practice software
Patients can also come in from your practice software, through the Windows app. They work the same as patients you add by hand.
- In the Windows app, a button at the top of the page reads Import from and your practice software's name. It needs your practice software open on that computer.
- An import brings in the patients on today's schedule, not your whole patient list.
- Sync now, beside the count, runs the same import.
- Prep my day can add the day's patients too. It's a routine that brings the day's schedule in from your practice software.
On a phone you can search, open and add patients. Importing runs in the Windows app.
Patients and their appointments
An appointment linked to a patient shows on the patient's page, under History.
To start an appointment for a patient, open their page and select + New appointment. The appointment opens linked to them, and Rebrief starts transcribing.
On the Scribe page, an appointment with nobody linked says No patient linked. Point at it and select Link a patient.
Note: Rebrief never merges two patients on its own. If it thinks two records are the same person, the patient's page asks you to check.
