Moving from the classic Rebrief app
The Rebrief you know is moving to a new home — a faster, more capable app we've been building (and running with real clinics) for months. This guide covers what's changing, what carries over, and where everything lives in the new interface, so your first appointment on the new Rebrief feels familiar from minute one.
The short version: your address doesn't change, your data comes with you, and your bill stays the same. You'll set a new password once, and that's it.
What's happening
We're retiring the classic Rebrief app and moving every practice to the new platform. When your practice's move is scheduled, you'll get an email from us — the timing, and anything you need to do, always arrives by email first. On switch day, app.rebrief.ai simply becomes the new Rebrief. Same bookmark, same front door.
Start your move
You may start from either of two personal buttons. Use the one Rebrief gives you; never forward its link to someone else.
From the classic Rebrief app
- Sign in to the classic app and press its migration button.
- Rebrief checks the account you're already signed in with. You briefly see Checking your migration link, then Set your new password.
- Enter the same new password twice (8–256 characters) and press Set password and migrate. Your patients, templates, appointments, charts, and notes are copied only after you press this button.
- When you see Your migration is complete, press Continue to sign in and use the email address from your classic account with the password you just chose.
If Rebrief says the classic authentication token is incorrect or expired, return to the classic app, sign in again, and restart from its migration button. The secure handoff lasts five minutes after Rebrief verifies the classic sign-in. If that handoff expires while the page is open, restart from the classic app; changing or reusing the old URL will not work.
From your activation email
- Open the personal migration email sent to your address and press its activation button. Your practice's data has already been copied and checked before this email is sent.
- The button opens Choose a new password. Enter the same new password twice (8–256 characters) and submit the form.
- When you see Your password has been reset. You can now log in., press Continue to login and sign in with the email address that received the message.
Each email activation button is unique, works once, and expires 14 days after it is created. A wrong, expired, replaced, or already-used link shows This reset link is invalid or expired. Request a new one. Use Forgot password on the sign-in page or contact support for a fresh reset. Never copy another person's activation link; it can set the password only for the account it was generated for.
Use Google sign-in? You can also press Sign in with Google on the new app. It recognizes the same email automatically.
Everything carries over
Your practice's records move with you, completely:
- Patients — your full roster, with demographics and history.
- Visit history — every past appointment stays reviewable, with its notes and dates intact.
- Clinical notes — every note, word for word. Text you typed yourself stays protected exactly as it was: the AI never rewrites what a human wrote, in the old app or the new one.
- Tooth and perio charts — restorations, conditions, probing depths, mobility, furcations, PSR. Past perio exams become part of the new chart-history timeline, so you can scrub back through them by date.
- Note templates — your custom templates come along.
- Your subscription — same plan, same billing, no card re-entry.
We verify every practice's move record by record — counts and content are checked against the original before we ever consider the move complete, and nothing is removed from the old system until long after your practice has confirmed everything is in place.
Before and after: finding your way
The new interface was built by the same team, deliberately close to what you know — especially the chart. Here's the map:
| In the classic app | In the new Rebrief |
|---|---|
| Sign in at app.rebrief.ai | Same address — one-time password setup from the classic app or your activation email (Google sign-in is unchanged) |
| Your home screen | The Dashboard — recent activity and quick actions, with navigation in the left sidebar |
| Starting a visit | New Appointment — from the sidebar, a patient's profile, or the Records page |
| The note editor | The note panel in the live appointment — same protected manual edits, same autosave, plus undo and a full revision history (Replay) |
| The tooth chart | The odontogram — same layout, same per-tooth popup, same probing order options (including max-first and facial-first), even the same probing sounds |
| Perio charting | Same six-point charting by voice or hand — now with instant on-chart feedback as you speak, voice corrections ("undo", "repeat", "actually that last one is 4"), and pause/resume mid-exam |
| Template picker | Templates now select themselves from the visit context, with a visible "Auto" tag — and your manual choice always wins and stays locked |
| Printing a chart | Print from the chart, as before |
| Getting help | The Help button in the sidebar opens this Help Center; Support reaches a human |
New since the classic app
You don't have to learn any of this on day one, but it's waiting for you:
- Chart history — scrub through a patient's perio exams over time, compare any two dates, and copy a prior exam forward deliberately.
- Ask anything — press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on Mac) to search the app or ask a clinical question with cited sources, mid-appointment.
- Patient timeline — one stream of every note, visit, and imported record per patient.
- PMS sync — the Rebrief Bridge connects your practice-management software so patients and schedules flow in automatically. (Optional — ask us about your PMS.)
- A faster scribe — charting from speech now happens on your device, so findings land on the chart the moment you finish saying them.
Common questions
Is my data safe during the move?
Yes. We take a complete, locked snapshot of your practice's records before anything moves, verify the copy record by record, and keep the original untouched and recoverable throughout. Your data is handled under the same privacy commitments as always (see our privacy policy for the details).
Will my bill change?
No. Your plan and billing continue exactly as they are. If anything about pricing ever changes for your practice, that conversation happens with you first — never as a side effect of the move.
What happens to the old app?
From switch day onward, app.rebrief.ai takes you to the new Rebrief. Your migration emails will spell out exactly what happens to the classic app after that — including whether, and for how long, it stays reachable. Either way, your records are already safely in the new app before the switch happens.
Do I need to install anything?
No — the new Rebrief runs in your browser at the same address. If your practice opts into PMS sync, we'll help you install the Rebrief Bridge on the front-desk computer.
What if something looks wrong after the move?
Tell us immediately — use the Support button in the sidebar or your usual contact. Migrated practices are flagged in our support tooling, so we can see your move's full record and fix anything fast. Nothing from the old system is discarded until well after your practice confirms all is well.
I can't sign in.
Use Forgot password on the sign-in page (it emails you a fresh link), or contact support. If you normally use Google sign-in, make sure you're choosing the same Google account you used before.
Welcome to the new Rebrief — we think you'll like it here.
