Rebrief Learn: CE credits from your questions
Rebrief Learn turns the clinical questions you already ask into continuing education credit, or CE credit. You ask as you do now, and the cited answer counts as soon as it is on your screen. Later, it is also a short unit you can read or hear, with a three-question quiz at the end. Nothing is timed, and no registration number is needed.
The three moments
At the chair
Ask a clinical question as you always do, on Home or in the prompt bar. When the answer is clinical and cited, one quiet line appears under its sources. It reads Filing towards CE credits while the answer is filed. Then it shows the minutes saved, for example 2 min saved towards category 3 CE credits. A link beside it reads Complete a short quiz to earn category 2 credits.
That line is the only change during the visit. Nothing asks you to do anything in the room. A question that isn't clinical, such as billing or scheduling, earns nothing, and the line doesn't show.
In the evening
Open Learn in the rail. If you have a certificate, your latest one comes first. Then you'll see what Rebrief has earned you this cycle, today's goal, and your units, laid out as a path.
- Units are listed newest first, under the day you asked the question behind each one.
- The next unit to do leads the path, with Start or Continue.
- A unit you have finished reading shows Take the quiz.
- A passed unit turns gold. A seal marks each full hour of passed quizzes.
- Passed units older than a week fold into one stop. Show opens it.
Each unit is a few short sections written from the answer and its sources. It is about a real case, with nothing that identifies the patient. Its citations are small chips. Tap one to open the source.
You can read a unit or hear it read aloud. To read, use Continue to open each section in turn. You can scroll back at any time. To hear it, tap Listen. It moves through the sections and then on to the next unit, so your screen can stay off. A bar at the bottom of the page shows where the narration is.
Not interested in a unit? Tap Not interested. The unit leaves your path, and the reading time from its answer stays. Undo puts it back.
Whenever you like
Each answer you read adds its minutes to one bank. Each unit you pass adds its minutes to a second bank.
Download certificate gives you Rebrief's certificate for the answers you read, at any time. It comes with an entry ready to paste into your College e-Portfolio. Read more and download again, and you get a new certificate with the next number. It lists everything you read this cycle. The earlier one still verifies, and it says a later certificate replaced it.
Category 2 certificates aren't available yet. Keep passing units in the meantime. The minutes from every unit you pass stay banked.
Two kinds of credit
Category 3 is the answers you read. An answer counts the moment it has finished on your screen. Rebrief is the provider, and the minutes are the answer's words at a reading pace. There is nothing to open and nothing to pass.
Category 2 is the units and their quizzes. Each unit is the same answer, rewritten as a short lesson with a quiz. Category 2 needs an approved sponsor, and its certificates aren't available yet.
Nothing counts twice. The answer's minutes are Category 3, and the unit's minutes are Category 2. Removing a unit with Not interested gives up only the Category 2 part. Hygienists bank both as hours.
Neither kind needs a registration number. If you add yours in Settings, it is printed on your certificates. Nothing depends on it.
The quiz
After the last section come three questions about the case. Two right out of three is a pass.
- Each answer is marked as soon as you tap it.
- The source shows with every answer, right or wrong. Tap it to open it.
- If you don't pass, three new questions are ready straight away. Tries are unlimited.
- Read it again takes you back through the unit.
A unit can show In review. You can read it or hear it now. Its quiz opens once the sponsor approves it.
What counts
- A unit's credit is its minutes, the estimated time printed on it. You earn them when you pass its quiz. Nothing is timed, so a quick read earns the same as a slow one.
- Three quizzes a day count unless you change Units a day in Settings. There is no cap on reading units or hearing them. Once today's quizzes are used, a waiting quiz says when it opens again, and the unit stays on your path.
- A unit on a topic you already passed this cycle isn't credited twice. Asking the same question again doesn't count its reading twice.
- Banked minutes wait until you download a certificate. Nothing is lost, and nothing waits on a registration number.
Your e-Portfolio is the record
Rebrief shows only what Rebrief earned you this cycle. For context, it shows those credits against the College's 90 credits, or 60 hours for hygienists. It doesn't track your whole cycle.
Your College's e-Portfolio is the record you are required to keep, and it does the arithmetic. It totals every category, moves extra credits down a category, and applies the Category 3 limit. Paste each certificate's entry there as you download it, or once at the end of the cycle.
There is nothing to enter by hand in Rebrief. Core credits in Category 1 still come from College-approved courses. Rebrief Learn doesn't offer them.
Settings, entered once
Go to Settings, then Learn & help, then Learn.
- Name as registered and Role, which is dentist or hygienist.
- Registration number (optional). It is printed on your certificates if you add it.
- Cycle end date (only if yours differs). It starts with the College's usual cycle end. Set your own only if you are in your first cycle. Use the College's cycle puts it back.
- Learning goals, for hygienists.
- Earn CE from my questions turns filing on or off.
- Units a day sets how many quizzes count in a day.
- Evening digest sends one email at the hour you pick, only on days with units. It also shows your streak, the days in a row you passed a quiz.
- Your CE record downloads every unit and every answer read, for an audit. It is kept for eight years.
The certificates
Certificates are made to print, black on white. Each one shows your name, and your registration number if you added one. It lists the period covered and every item with its date, topic and minutes. It ends with the total time, a document number and a link anyone can use to verify it.
The Category 3 certificate is available now. It names Rebrief as the provider. It states that the activity is self-study e-learning with no assessment.
Good to know
- Units never carry a patient's name, date of birth or anything else that could identify them.
- Units never carry product messages. The learning content is kept apart from the rest of Rebrief.
- The first time a unit plays, its audio takes a moment to prepare. After that, it starts at once.
- This isn't legal advice. Your College's rules govern.
