Help Center · Home and asking Rebrief
Home and the prompt bar
Home is the first screen you see in Rebrief, and the first item in the left rail. It is built around one prompt bar. Ask a clinical question, ask about a patient, or ask Rebrief to do something for you. Every chat you start is kept in the list beside it.
Ask from the prompt bar
The large bar in the middle of Home reads What should we work on next?
- Click in the bar.
- Type your question or request. Shift+Enter starts a new line.
- Press Enter, or click the arrow, to send it.
The chat opens in place, and the bar moves under it so you can keep going. Press Esc to stop an answer that is still coming in.
Click the empty bar to see a few suggestions, such as Catch me up on a patient. Click one to fill the bar. Then type over the highlighted words, or pick the patient from the list that opens. Nothing is sent until you press Enter.
What's in the bar
- + opens Patients, Appointments and Routines.
- Type @ to pick a patient or an appointment. It shows as a chip, so Rebrief knows who you mean.
- Type /routines to pick one of your routines and run it.
- The mic lets you dictate. Speak, then click the check mark to add your words.
- Ask or Approve sets what happens when a request would change your practice software. Ask for approval waits for you. Approve for me runs it as soon as you send it.
The computer button above the bar picks which clinic computer runs tasks in your practice software. Clinics connect their practice software to Rebrief through the Windows app, on a clinic computer.
Pick up where you left off
Four tiles sit under the bar. Click a tile to open it, and click × to close it.
- Appointments shows recent appointments as cards. Click a card to open one.
- Patients shows the patients from those appointments. Click a card to open a patient's page.
- Look up has ready-made questions in five groups, from Look up to Write. Click one to put it in the bar, then finish the sentence.
- Tasks lists open follow-ups from your appointments. Tick the round box when one is done.
The + on a card adds that appointment or patient to your question.
Under the tiles, Start a routine runs one of your clinic's routines with one click.
Your chats and appointments
The panel on the left starts with these rows.
- New chat clears the bar for a new question.
- New appointment starts an appointment and opens it. If one is already transcribing on this computer, it opens that one instead.
- Calendar opens your clinic's schedule beside the list. It shows on plans that connect to your practice software.
- Routines opens your routines. Any that run at a set time are also listed under Scheduled.
Under Recent, your chats and the clinic's recent appointments are listed together, newest first. The icon on each row says what kind of row it is.
- The magnifying glass searches the list. It finds a title, a patient's name or date of birth, or words from a chat.
- The filter shows one kind at a time, such as Appointments or Evidence.
- A row's ⋯ menu can Pin to top, Rename or Delete it.
A chat about a patient is filed under that patient. If you asked it during one of their appointments, it sits under that appointment's row. Otherwise it sits under a row with the patient's name. Click the arrow on a row to show what's under it. Chats about no one stand on their own.
On a phone, ≡ opens your chats and + starts a new chat.
Inside a chat
The chat's title sits at the top. If the chat is about a patient, their name comes first. Click the name to open their appointment or their page.
The ⋯ beside the title can Rename, Copy conversation, Download, Branch this chat or Delete chat.
Each time you come back to Home, you start on a new chat. The chat you left stays in the list.
The prompt bar on other pages
On every other page, the bar sits in the top bar and reads Ask me to search or do anything.
- Press Ctrl+K, or ⌘K on a Mac. You can also click the bar.
- Type, and press Enter.
- The answer opens in a panel under the bar.
In the panel, Open in Home takes you to Home, where the chat is kept in your list. Clear chat starts over. Press Esc to close the panel.
During and after an appointment
While you work on an appointment, Rebrief suggests questions from what is said. They show as chips beside the bar, each with an icon.
- A globe is answered from clinical sources on the web.
- A clipboard is answered from this patient's chart.
- A cursor is a task Rebrief would do for you.
Click a chip to ask it, or to start its task. A chip with a saffron outline is already answered. Click it to see the answer again. The chips stay after End, until you leave the appointment's page.
After End, you can type a change to the note in the bar, such as "shorten the plan in the note". Rebrief makes the change in the note on screen.
Rebrief may also have questions about details the note usually needs. Once they're ready, the panel under the bar opens on Polish your note. Your answers are written into the note and highlighted. To stop it opening at End, turn on Don't open this at End at the foot of the card.
The small print at the foot of Home reads "Dental knowledge only. Not for autonomous decision making. Check sources and use your clinical judgement."
