Your profile & security
Your name, your email, your password and two-factor authentication all live in Settings, under Account.
Your name and email
- Open Settings. Click your name at the top of the menu, or choose Profile.
- Change Name or Email. Your name is shown to your team and on your notes. You sign in with your email.
- If you change your email, type your current password in the box that appears.
- Press Save changes.
Typed changes save only when you press Save changes.
Change your password
- In Settings, choose Security.
- Under Change password, type your Current password.
- Type a New password, then type it again in Confirm new password.
- Press Update password.
A new password needs at least 8 characters. You stay signed in on this device.
Two-factor authentication
With two-factor authentication on, signing in also needs a code from an authenticator app on your phone.
To turn it on, follow these steps.
- In Settings, choose Security.
- Under Two-factor authentication, press Set up authenticator app.
- In your authenticator app, add an account and scan the QR code. You can type the Manual setup key instead.
- Type the 6-digit code from the app and press Verify code.
- Press Generate recovery codes. Save them with Copy codes or Download codes.
- Tick I have saved these recovery codes, then press Enable two-factor authentication.
The row then reads Enabled. Each code from the app works once. If the app still shows a code you just used, wait for the next one.
Recovery codes are shown only once. Keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone.
Signing in with two-factor
After your password, Two-step verification asks for the 6-digit code from your app. Type it and press Verify.
Lost your phone? Press Use a recovery code and type one of your saved codes.
Turning it off
Press Disable 2FA and type a current code from your app. Then press Disable two-factor authentication. Your authenticator and your recovery codes stop working at once.
Forgot your password
- On the sign-in page, type your email and press Continue.
- Press Forgot password?
- Check that your email is right, then press Send reset link.
- Open the email and its link. The Check your email screen looks the same whether or not the address has an account. That keeps accounts private.
- On Choose a new password, type the new password twice and press Reset password.
- Press Continue to login and sign in.
No email yet? Press Send again. If the link says it's invalid or expired, press Request a new link.
Delete your account
In Security, Delete account… asks you to contact support. Rebrief's support team deletes the account, so nothing is removed by mistake.
Good habits
- Sign in with your own login. Don't share it, even with your team.
- On a computer other people use, press Log out at the foot of the rail when you're done. On a phone, it's under More.
- Turn on two-factor authentication.
- If you think someone else used your account, change your password right away.
